History

More than 20 years with best football.

2026
Born to Play

MARCH 31st – APRIL 5th: 24th edition

2025
#DreamsAreReal

The tournament reached the largest historical number of participating teams in 2025 with a total of 444.

MICFootball broke all records with 43 venues, 59 playing fields and more than 9,000 participants who enjoyed a week of football on the Costa Brava. A total of 1,092 matches were played.

MICFootball is no stranger to the global pandemic that is sweeping the planet in 2020. After two years without being able to celebrate the tournament, in 2022 we were once again enjoying the great party of youth football. And in 2023 we returned to our best numbers with 344 teams from over 30 different countries.

2018
New peak

The tournament reaches a new peak of teams with a total of 372. In this edition, the tournament incorporated two new categories (the U13 and the U15). More than 900 matches were played on 46 pitches with more than 7,000 boys and girls from up to 42 different countries.

2011 - 2014
Globalization

The growth of the tournament is already unstoppable and for the first time it reaches the figure of 200 participating teams. America and Europe predominate, but MICFootball is surprised by Qatar’s Aspire Academy, which has won 9 titles in 6 editions. Spanish clubs, such as Málaga CF, with Brahim Diaz or Pablo Fornals leading, also left their mark on the Costa Brava.

2015
15 years dreaming

Neymar is the ambassador of the tournament in 2015, being already a world football star. Seven years earlier, in 2008, he won the MICFootball alongside his friend Coutinho wearing the colors of the Brazilian National Team.

A decade making the dream of the youngest come true. We are celebrating our anniversary at the Costa Brava, with the support of the Diputació de Girona.

2003 - 2009
MICPlayers

Year after year, the MIC consolidates itself as an unmissable event every Easter, bringing together the best teams in youth football. That is why football stars like Leo Messi (2003), Juan Mata (2003), Marcelo (2004), Dani Carvajal (2006), Neymar Jr (2008), Casemiro (2008), Coutinho (2008) or Borja Iglesias (2009) burst into the tournament among others. In the next decade, more names that are currently succeeding will appear.

2002
Costa Brava

After a first edition in the Canary Islands, we are moving to Catalonia. The Costa Brava welcomes us with open arms. The MIC is presented to the media with Ronaldo, one of the best strikers in the history of football, as an ambassador.

2001
Canarian Islands

The new century brings with it a new idea. In an era when youth football tournaments were more of a gathering of teams without any organization, a group of visionaries wanted to create a tournament that offers a unique experience to both the world’s biggest clubs and the most modest ones. The place chosen for this first edition was the Canary archipelago and its name was Mundialet Illes Canàries (MIC).
